Grandma’s Homemade Orange Oatmeal Bread
Ingredients:
- 2 Oranges
- 4 Tablespoon of Sugar
- 1 1/2 Cups of Sugar in dry stuff
- 2 Large Bowls
- 4 Tablespoons of Powder Sugar
- 3 Cups Sifted Flour
- 2 Teaspoons of Salt
- 3 Tablespoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 2 Cups of Uncooked Quaker Oats - 1 Minute
- Half a Stick of Margarine
- 4 Large Eggs
- 1 1/3 Cups of Water
- 4 Tablespoon of Grate Orange Peel
- 2 (9x5x3) and 1 (5x2x2) Bread Pan
Tips: When you do the Cups, make sure that it is even to the top!!!!!
DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF MIXER. ONLY USE WOODEN SPOONS.

Directions:
- Wash oranges in water, and dry the oranges on a paper towel.
- Cup out the “Bad Parts”, that have “Black Spots”.
- Grate only 1 Oranges on top of a piece of Wax Paper.
- Melt the half of stick of Margarine.
- With using a knife, peel the orange, until there is no more white stuff on the orange. BUT DO NOT TAKE TO MUCH OF THE ORANGE, OFF!!!
- Peel the Orange apart. There will be big pieces from the top and the bottom of the orange, and any white pieces from the oranges, you can just throw out.
- Cut the oranges, into little small pieces. IF YOU SEE ANY SMALL BLACK OR WHITE SEEDS, JUST PUSH IT TO THE SIDE. DO NOT PUT THE SEEDS, IN WITH THE ORANGES, FOR THE BREAD!!!
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Add the 4 tablespoons of sugar, to the peeled and cut oranges in a small bowl, and stir.
- In one large bowl (BOWL A), mix in 3 cups flour, 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 3 tablespoons of baking powder, 2 teaspoons of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
- Sift BOWL A, into another large bowl. After you sift, if there is anything else in the sifter, just throw it out.
- Mix in the 2 cups of uncooked Quaker Oats - 1 minute, into BOWL A.
- In another bowl (BOWL B), crank open the 4 large eggs, and try to take out the “White” things, that is touching the yolk.
- Beat 4 large eggs, and then add the 1 and 1/3 cups of water, into the BOWL B.
- Add 4 tablespoons of orange peels, into the BOWL B.
- Add the Half a stick of Margarine, into the BOWL B.
- Add the orange pieces, into the BOWL B.
- After you mix BOWL B, pour and mix BOWL B into BOWL A. DON’T MIX TO MUCH. JUST MIX TIL EVERYTHING IS MIXED!!!
- In 2 (9x5x3) and 1 (5x2x2) Bread Pan, spray Pam into the pans, ON ALL SIDES!!!
- Pour the mixed (BOWL A), into the pans, and leave at least a quarter open on top, so the bread can rise.
- Bake at 350 degrees, for 55-60 minutes. BUT CHECK IT IN 57 MINUTES!!
- After the 57 minutes, use a Toothpick, to see if the bread is done.
- After the bread is done, put the pans in top of the stove, for about 4-5 minutes.
- Use a metal utensil, to loosen the bread, and top side down on a cooling rack for 2 and a half hours, to cool.
- You CAN put Orange Bread in the freezer, but only use a storage bag, and Freezer Bags.
You can keep them in the freezer for a long time. But if you keep it out, it is just like bread. It can go bad.
